I have a Pioneer stand alone DVD recorder that records video from our lab studies. The video needs to be published to our Windows streaming server. The VOB files are not encrypted and the audio is in AC3 format. I have an encoding PC with a DVD ROM drive. I installed the mpeg2dmx.ax filter from Elecard, the PowerDVD software that came with the drive, and the Windows Media 9 Encoder. I was able to transcode the VOB files in the media encoder at 640x480 1073 Kbps CBR deinterlaced single pass encoding. The output was great and it played flawlessly from the streaming server. I wrote a C# application to automate the process and publish links and meta data to a database. Then I started messing around on the PC to move the application to another unit. Now when I try to transcode the video I get smooth audio but the video plays smooth for a few seconds and then skips, then smooths out, then skips... If I open the VOB files in graphedit they play back smooth with no skips. I have tried rebuilding the PC from scratch and I can't reproduce the smooth encoding I had working for some time. Any ideas?
