Hi,

Just got my hands on a new JVC XV-N310B, now it says that the dvd player can play MPEG-4 Simple Profile videos in .ASF file format.

How do i conver AVI/Divx/Xvid files to .ASF MPEG-4 Simple Profile?
What is the spec for ASF MPEG-4 Simple Profile files?
What is the 4CC for this file format?

What program can i use to produce this file format?

Thanks.

Hello, and welcome to the forum.

The .asf container is Microsoft's Advanced Streaming Format. I believe you can create .asf files by using Microsoft Windows Movie Maker. Here's a link to the Windows XP version:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/moviemaker/default.mspx

Here's a link to Bond's MPEG-4 standards information:

did you try playing a divx5 .avi file on your player?

Hi fbifido,

How do you fancy lifting the lid off your player to identify the make and model of chip-set that's being used?

A couple of JVC players use the ESS Vibratto II chip-set.

Cheers
