Hello all,I just came ashore on this wonderfull site :)

I love it already!!!!!!!!!

Does anyone either have the codecs or know where i can get them for QDM2 audio?????

I use VLC Media Player (www.videolan.org/vlc) (Best media player out there (along with the other 2 things i have (WMP9 and RP8+))) and those seem to be the ONLY Quicktime clips i cant hear.......(Ones encoded with QDM2 audio) I can SEE THEM,i just cant hear them

If someone could point me in the rite direction,I WOULD BE MORE THANKFULL THAN YOU REELIZE!!!!!!!!! (Ill add it to my VLC plugin folder)

It seems highly unlikely that if REAL PLAYER 10 can play QDM2 audio and stuff, that VLC Media Player (Which is 100% better than real player 10) cant do it????!?!?!?! No,theres gotta be some hack or something out there that will "force" QDM2 audio to be heard with VLC........

Mplayer does it (Linux) Someone on the VLC DISCUSSION SITE (http://forum.videolan.org/) said there was a codec 'JUST FOR DEVELOPERS'....Is there a way to get that codec? http://www.myfilestash.com/userfiles/thedude/confused.gif This is bugging me cause i LOVE VLC so much and to not be able to hear the audio on 'QDM2 audio clips' with a program AS GOOD AS VLC,is stunning!!!

I can view those clips JUST FINE which is puzzling........

Does anyone have QUICKTIME INSTALLED to get a look @ the actual codecs used and MAYBE i could put them in the VLC folder after renaming them accordingly...

Some1 on anuther site mentioned that he checked the FEATURES page of VLC and it DOES SAY THEY SUPPORT 'QDM2' audio on win platforms...I had noticed this be4 also...Maybe @ 1 point it was and it was removed,i dunno........

I know there was some conflict about VLC being able to hear it,(With some stupid GPL licensing or whatever) -- Maybe they DID support it @ one point and dont anymore......

For example this clip (http://www.skylab.ws/assets/mov/tanks-on-la-streets.mov) i can VIEW FINE.......I just cant hear it,as its 'QDM2' audio........

Very annoying!!!!! -- Thanx for any help

The Dude :)

that codec comes only with quicktime, so You must use quicktime/quicktime alternative or mplayer with quicktime codec pack

So there is NO STAND ALONE CODEC for QDM2???

Why is it the ONLY 1 WITH NO CODEC WRITTEN???? Surely someone out there has one, they just dont wanna share it..........

Hmmmm

Thanx Mate :)

(Thanx MODS for moving my thread to this base,i wasnt sure wheather to post it on THIS BASE or where i did........Thank you for clarifying it)

No problem. But please use an appropriate title next time and don't use caps.

VLC doesn't uses DirectShow nor VfW to open such videos, so you won't find a codec that will be usable together with VLC. On linux, with custom builds, you can enable mplayer's trick which is able to load windows dll and use them. But afaik, that only works on linux, and you've got to compile VLC yourself.

FYI, the video can be read because it is simply h263, while the audio codec is proprietary, and apparently not supported by ffmpeg nor none of the audio decoding library VLC comes with.

Thanx due :)

Well i have tried putting QUICKTIME.QTS (Main quicktime file) and QTMLCLIENT.DLL (control file) into my VLC folder and still no audio on QDM2 CLIPS!! http://www.myfilestash.com/userfiles/thedude/icon04.gif

I had every QT file in my VLC folder last week and STILL NOTHING!!

Some1's gotta know of something!!!!!!

Lets join together on this!!!

OK, you didn't understand me last time, I'll try to be clearer :

You can't add dll in your VLC directory and expect the codec to be handled by VLC. VLC doesn't support dll loading, excepted on some customized builds which exists ( afaik ) only on linux.

Oh, and remember what bond told you about caps ( and you can add '!' to the list )

Sorry Mate,

I have been reading where there is a HACK to use QT dlls to accomplish this (They discuss it on this site) (http://forum.videolan.org)....... I tried it and no luck,i dunno....

Sorry about the caps and stuff!!

Thanx :)

I got AUDIO with QDM2 files!!!!!!!!

YOU DO NOT NEED TO INSTALL QUICKTIME!!!!!!

ALL YOU NEED IS 2 FILES:

1) qtmlclient.dll
2) quicktime.qts

Place both files into your SYSTEM directory...........

God Bless all
