Hello guies,

I just got the pro version and I'm wondering how can I upgrade from 0.86 free version installed from Rockas' installer ?

yes you can - just copy over the exe of the pro version into the dvd-rb folder

Thanks for your answer :)

Do I have to copy the 'dgdecode.dll' file too?

EDIT :

The file size is the same, only the modification hour is different, so I guess they are the same file.

I just replaced the .exe file and all went well, all my settings are there and no error message when launching DVD-RB :)

You may want to insert HCTargetSectors=2263000 in the rebuilder ini file if you are going to use the HC encoder. I just got my Pro version v.0.90 May 6th, two days ago. My first encode gave a to high output to burn without shrinking. So, I entered the above setting and it came out with 4471MB which I can burn. I try to hit 4480MB to use all the space on the DVD-R. I was using the Best Setting in HC.

Regards

I'll read about HC encoder, as soon as I can ;)

So far (after about a year using DVD-RB free version) I never had DVD-RB giving me a too large output, actionly it gives me a smaller output than DVD Shrink (that I was using so far for low compressed DVDs or DVD-5 DVDs to be able to backup and burn in one shot).

I guess that it depends on the movie you are encoding and the settings you apply.

@HornyBass
You probably know this but I'll mention it anyway as someone else may be able to use the information:)

Go to the Help Section on the DVD-RB application. Choose "Contents",
click and expand "Menus and Settings", Click "Hidden Settings" read target output size section. I believe "wmansir" uses the setting TargetSectors=2264000 or (CCETargetSectors=2264000 for you) which he mentions in a sticky about settings in the DVD Rebuilder forum. This may help if you are consistantly getting undersized outputs and like me, you want to use every available bit of space on the DVD-R. I have been using DVD-RB free version about 6 months before finally upgrading to the Pro version, like you:D

Regards,

P.S. For everyone else these settings are for "Advanced Users Only" if you are not in this catagory don't complain if you screwup.:p

you have to be careful with cramming a full disc - as you get closer to the outside edges, errors can occur during a burn when you push it to the maximum.

Yes I know it is pushing the envelope.:) DVD-R is 4489MB max capacity.
But I use top notch "Taiyo Yuden" media at this setting and burn @ 4X though my burner exceeds this speed. I have been spot on with DVDShrink, no problems at all.(Transcoding @10% or less, otherwise I use DVD-RB) Nonetheless, I would not recommend 4480MB if someone has iffy media. BTW DVDShrinks default setting is 4464MB for those inquiring minds. With DVD-RB I play around with the settings and have only had a problem with HC over shooting as I mentioned earlier.

Regards,

P.S. I believe we are getting off topic. Still, it is good information for people to know:)
