Cant rip DVD, errors in everything

Howdy, Ive tried a number of rippers, including DVD Decrypter, vStrip and Smart Ripper, and I keep getting an error when I try and decrypt a .vob file. The error I get is;

I/O Error!

I have no idea what the error means (other than a read error), and I cant seem to get around it. Any ideas anyone?

Well seeing as how all programs have failed, personally I'd give up!

You could try another drive, or get another copy of the disc.

For some reason, a lot of people are not understanding this part.

Interception: Check Condition

In defense of the newbies, check the condition of "what"? Perhaps a clarification of saying drive or disc? or both?

If you look, each interpretation comes under an actual 'status' code returned by the drive/drivers.

Check Condition is for the 'ScsiStatus' field.

It has nothing at all to do with actually checking the disc / drive whatever.

The only field you really need to look at to see the problem, is the sense area interpretation one.

(oh, and if you want to see what it failed in doing, read the CDB interpretation).

So in the case of the above error, the drive failed to complete a 'Read' command, and the reason for that failure was 'Unrecovered Read Error'.

So basically, the drive couldnt read that sector on the disc.

That could be due to dirt, a scratch or just fault on the disc.

Other drives may have more luck reading it.

i wanted to ask if you drivers are up to date. My Lite-On 1633S had a new driver that would help my compatability issues with read and write.

I've got the latest firmware, so Im not sure its the drive that is at fault (or if it is I cant fix it). It could be the disc, as it is quite scratched up. All the times I try and decrypt it it fails on the same place on the same file, so that could certainly support the scratched disc theory.

I'll T-Cut the disc and see what I can come up with. Thanks for your help all.

Its car paint restorer. Also works great at getting scratches out of discs.

Try AnyDVD, it auto-disables any and all protections on any cd/dvd in the background at a super-low level so you can use any copy software.

I don't think AnyDVD will help. The disc is unreadable; that's not due to any copy protection mechanism.
