if you were to encode the same file using avc and asp to the same quality, what would be the file size of each type?

i have this plain, old-style apple, called "apple", grown on a tree and i have this new, genetically modified, in a lab grown super apple, called "advanced apple coding".

how much space will "advanced apple coding" save over "apple"? :D

If the bitrates were the same, wouldn't the answer be, "None?"

Probably he meant to ask, for the same 'quality', does ASP or AVC have a filesize advantage over the other?

But then again - a very broad question, ambiguous and cannot be answered without knowing anything about the settings used.

You can always take a small file and try both methods. We allow :-)

It has been stated by most that ASP Q4 and AVC Q26 are very close quality wise. Do constant Q encodings at those Q for both of them and that will give you an idea of what "might" be possible. But I gotta tell you it all depends on the source as to how much you can save.
