Just upgraded to Athlon XP 2700+ with MSI K7N2GM-V motherboard 512MB RAM 430 W PSU Win XP Pro.

Ripped ISO with DVD Decrypter, mounted image with Daemon Tools, opened image file with DVD Shrink, selected main movie, started deep analysis and about half way through everything freezes forcing me to reboot.

I had done one DVD on the new system (in the same manner as above) and I'm leaning toward some kind of driver conflict as I just updated the drivers using the MSI live update 3 feature.

Anyone ever experienced this? Suggestions?

Just some ideas you might check out. You indicated this was a new build of your computer, so...

Get and run memtest86 and then prime95 torture test your machine. The analysis routine in shrink is CPU and memory intensive. Also, check the temperatures of your CPU -- is it running too hot?

There's no need to mount the ISO in Damon Tools since DVD Shrink can open read ISOs natively. Just do a File > Open Disc Image.

Thanks for the advice. The memory is good. Could be a heat issue, chip is running at 92 C. or a driver conflict.

Are other one click apps less cpu/memory intensive?

DVD Shrink is if you check 'Run analysis and backup in low priority mode to improve multi-tasking' in the preferences window. If you're still having problems it must be your machine. I do multitasking on a Celeron 800 Mhz just fine while Shrinking stuff.

Krizzz,

I got some temp data that said 85c was fair for the top end - so I'm running a little hot. I'm using 1 Click DVD Copy 4.1 for the moment as it works with no prob, as does every other app on my system. Thanks for the note on your temp, going to take some steps to lower mine tonight.
