The only time my computer has any audio coming from the speakers is when PowerDVD is open. As soon as I close it all audio goes away. Games, music, everything silent. This never happened and is completely random, I dont think I changed any settings in PowerDVD that would cause this to happen. I have sound in all other programs (Games, music in winamp) as long as I have PowerDVD open. I have no sound in anything when I close PowerDVD. I dont need to be playing a DVD or anything, just have PowerDVD open. Does anyone know why?? Is there a setting that may have been turned on that causes this to happen?

What happens after you uninstall PowerDVD and after you reinstall?

Now I have no sound at all. Regardless of if PowerDVD is open or not.

*EDIT* I just fixed it. I went into the audio settings of my computer. Uninstalling PowerDVD changed the WAV setting to nothing. So i had no audio at all. When I put it back to where it was before I got audio back. I dont know what was wrong before that caused PowerDVD to steal my audio. B/c the WAV and all other settings were normal. I dunno.

Somehow the WAV slider got moved all the way down - I tried it myself with audio control panel open and as soon as PowerDVD opened the slider popped up; as soon as I closed it the slider dropped again. It apparently had nothing to do with PowerDVD, except that the program uses the WAV slider to control the output volume, so when it's open you had sound. Reinstalling it should be completely safe.

PowerDVD over-rides your audio settings when it is open. That way, you only have to bother about PowerDVD's audio control when watching movies and nothing else. I guess, the audio slider was moveddown accidentally and PowerDVD was working the way it was supposed to. Too bad you had to waste time uninstalling PowerDVD and all.
