I'm trying to understand some basic terminology so I can follow some of these threads. I feel like such a neophyte. I want to be able to ask intelligent questions on these forums. There's dozens of other terms I don't understand, but ones that come to mind are:
Interpolation
Telecine/Inverse Telecine
Temporal Cleaner
GOPs in Mpeg2 and DVD Compliance
3:2 pulldown -why? The whole 3:2 2:3 deal
Trellis Quantization
etc
I need it explained in really basic terms. I want to know why and in which cases you'd perform such functions. Can anyone point to some places that cover this stuff?
