Hello

On a recent backup of "Bourne Identity", i noticed that during big scenes with brilliant light (storm for example), we see some akward images. During a gun fight close to the end of the movie, i have a nice picture that shows what it looks like : a big black box over the fire of the gun...

Can anyone explain this to me?

i read the post and if i understand, if i use the QLB matrix, it shouldn't be a problem. However, I used the QLB and the problem is still there.

I took scene detection, Custom Matrix, "Slow mode", High quality and the trellis Quant.

Should i reencode without trellis or only with the normal matrix?

Try using standard matrix or encode without trellis (leaving QLB matrix).

but do you think it is better leaving on QLB and turning off trellis or the opposit? I can't really test myself because my encoding rig is REALLY slow...

QLB or just the standard matrix is not going to cause this problem, QLB is design to help encodings at lower bitbates (less then 4000ish)... if anything here would be the problem it would be trellis.... and again trellis is really only going to help at lower bitrates. With most DVD's you won't need to use either one but thats up to you.

ahh the good old trellis bug rears its head. first time i have seen QLB have the problem though.

for slow rigs you definatly want to disable trellis. it is in no way optimised for speed. try it and see the speed difference you get.
