Ok i was going to ask how to do it... then my google & forum search actually started to yeild some useful information..

So is this right then?

Source: xvid avi 592x320 1.85:1 (NTSC Rip)
Destination: PAL DVD 16:9 (with the black bars)

I did some math (using excel) and this is what I came up with:

Source Width AR Height Divisible by 16?
592 1.85 320
592 315
Dest
720 2.25 568.8888889 35.55555556
720 560 35

Crop Top Bottom Left Right
3 2 0 0

Dest height 1 = src.height.1*16/9
Dest height 2 = src.height.2*16/9

Using Mainconcept MPEG Encoder
I enetered the values into the Crop & Scale dialog as

Thanks in advance....

Use FitCD for those operations, its fast and easy!(and free)
Youll find it here:http://shh.sysh.de/

Just load your source under "MPEG Resizing" and
select your target media, and FitCD creates a basic AviSynth
script to load into your encoder.
