hi guyz
What's the Idea of Converting DAT into MPG then load into VirtualDub
even though the VirtualDub can Directly load the DAT files directly!
in other words what's the benefit of using VCDgear (beside fixing mpeg files) ! and is it worthy waiting for a bucnh of dat files to beconverted into mpg by VCDgear?!
waiting for an answer
thank you in advance

DAT = MPEG-1 + Error protection headers needed for standalones.

Do NOT simply rename DAT to MPEG. Use VCDGear to strip the headers and then use the pure MPEG-1 stream inside. If you are authoring a VCD later, these headers will be added back by the burning software, e.g: Nero burning rom.

thanx guyz for response
my problem is.........the tutorials of VCD to AVI in doom9.org or Nicky's Pages told that I have to convert dat files into mpg via VCDgear...while I can skip this step by loading directly the dat file in Vdub!
so should I keep skipping the using of VCDgear or I'm doin' somthin' wrong?!
