View Full Version : Getting a burning error w/ Shrink + Nero -- please help

Hello,

I was previously able to burn backup DVDs without issue with Shrink + Nero. However, recently I have been getting an error message and I am not sure what is causing it. For background -- it seems to be for all DVDs. I cannot back Bourne Supremacy, Grudge or virtually any other. I have tried using DVD Decrypter to rip first. And I have tried VOB Blanker to take out the copy protection. Nothing seems to work.

I have following rig:

Intel P4 2.8 ghz
Abit TH7II Raid
2 x 256MB Samsung PC800
Nvidia 6800
Maxtor HDDs (60 gb x 2)
NEC ND-2500A DVD Burner (I have tried updating the firmware -- and flashing in 2510A upgrade -- no affect)

Please help

I have cut and pasted the entire log as I am not sure what is relevant:

try outputing to iso from dvdshrink and then try burning that with DvdDecrypter and see if you get an error.

I tried creating an ISO earlier (used Nero still to burn) -- no help.

I may be mistaken -- but I was not aware that DVD Decrypter could burn.

You havent played with your firmware at all have you? Just that the parts that really stick out to me are:

7:13:38 AM #33 CDR -1106 File Writer.cpp, Line 311
Power calibration error

7:13:38 AM #34 Text 0 File ThreadedTransfer.cpp, Line 228
all writers idle, stopping conversion

7:13:38 AM #39 Text 0 File DVDR.cpp, Line 5061
Drive: _NEC DVD_RW ND-2510A
Book Type request [NEC]: DVD-ROM
Book Type setting not supported for the loaded disc type
Changing the Book Type was finished with error, return code -4

It seemed to do that twice.

DVD Decrypter has had burning for awhile now. Just click 'Mode', then 'ISO' then select 'Write'.

I did this with the factory firmware. I tried updating the firmware, then I flashed in the 2510A firmware -- but neither worked.

I tried DVDDecrypter and got this:

outch, I hate to be the one to say.... you might benifit from a old fasion clean install. write zeros to the drive, then install your operating system.
