Hello, everyone.
I have a question regarding bitrate caculation in Scenaid 1.5 (build 45).

I have demuxed a DVD which has only one VTS by vobid.

I re-encoded the asssets and some of the re-encoded assets are larger than the original assets. So I want to use the original assets for those that is larger in size than the original ones and re-encode the rest with higher bitrates.

In Scenaid 1.5, I unchecked the assets that I do not want to re-encode. Scenaid gives me a higher bitrate than the original bitrate in CCEData.txt. I generated script and found out that the script do not include assets that were unchecked.
The question is:

Is the size of the original assets considered in Scenaid when calculating the new bitrate? If it isn't, the reauthored DVD would be larger than 4.3GB and I have to find a lower bitrate considering the original assets.

hi leeza,

if you uncheck an asset in scenaid it will be replaced by a blank video of the same duration. that is, the asset is removed and not considered (well, the small amount of the dummied asset is) in the final output size, and therefore your bitrate for the selected assets will be proportionally higher.
which, is not what you are looking for.

to be honest, beyond manually working out the bitrates, i am not sure that what you want to do is possible via scenaid.

if i remember correctly i actually asked one of the developers (either Eyes`Only or D3s7) to include a check that would not re-encode your assets if the chosen bitrate was higher than the original bitrate ... although i cannot recall if it was to be included .. or even possible for that matter.

cheers

Thanks, jel.
That's what I thought.
Now, I have to figure out the bitrate myself.
Thanks again.
