Well I got the codec from the thread of daily x264 builds in the "New Codecs" subforum, and encoding worked perfectly. But for some reason I cannot open the resulting .avi in vdub.
Says it doesn't neccessory components installe. Anyone tried this yet, any suggestions?

x264vfw does not come with a decoder. you will have to install ffdshow (a recent build) and enable h264 in the vfw configuration

I do have ffdshow installed, and I can play the file fine in any player. VDub is the only thing that doesn't like that file

did you also activate h264 suppot under vfw codec config=>decoder?
(Virtual Dub is a vfw tool)

umm... going to configure dialog, doesn't give any decoder options. vfw verision supposed to have that? (I don't want to use command line version)

I guess selur talks about the ffdshow's vfw codec config.

Start > all programs > ffdshow > VfW configuration > decoder > codecs ... H264 = libavcodec :)
