I want to back up one of my concert DVD's using DVD Shrink but when it analyzes the DVD it shows that it is too big (red in the toolbar). I know that I can cut out the menus and extras to bring it down to the allowable size but I would prefer to back up the entire DVD so, as I understand it, an alternative is to disable some of the audio streams. I know that I can disable French or Spanish streams but they are all English and, being pretty new at this, I'm not really sure which one (or ones) that I can safely disable. The audio streams listed are 1) AC3 2-ch Unspecified 76MB 2) LPCM 2-ch English 1612MB 3) AC3 5.1-ch English 469MB 4) AC3 2-ch English 192 MB. If I disable the LPCM stream it fits nicely but what I was wondering is what is the difference between these audio streams, what is their purpose and how will it affect the back-up copy if I disable the LPCM? Thank you very much.

Hi & welcome to the forum,

I am just guessing here ... but it might be so that #1 is the stereo mix of the concert (compressed as ac3) with #2 being the same mix, but uncompressed (thus offering a higher audio quality). #3 could be a 5.1 mix of the concert (again, this is in compressed ac3 format), and #4 could be a commentary.

It's up to you which one(s) you would like to diable - be sure to check on the back label if these assumptions look correct. Before burning, check that you have indeed kept the correct audio tracks ...
