when i try to copy (back up) a dvd with dvd shrink, its does the first part with no problems (decripts the dvd and creates a folder containing it on the harddrive) but when it ejects it and asks for a blank dvd to be inserted, It begins to burn the dvd but in the first few seconds 'power callibration error' appears in the info window, it carrys on burning, but when it get to like 99% it ejects it saying burn process failed. and all this rubbish it displayed in the info window.

then after all that the dvd is still completely blank and has nothing burned on it. I'm using the newest version of nero, and it works fine. but when you go through neros options and try to burn image to disk (exactly what dvd shrink is trying to do) and try to burn the folder in which the decripted dvd is in it does exactly the same thing as dvd shrink, comes up with power calibration error in the info window and fails at 99% having not burned any info.

You got this error message either because you are using a blank disc which is not compatible with your burner or there's a problem with your burner (1.The power supply didn't bring enough power to the burner 2.Physical problem with the burner).

My notebook had same problem when buring a disc. After all I had the burner replaced to solve this problem.

Like parada said your laser to burn probably died. You can still burn/read CDs and even read DVDs but burning DVDs there's no hope. Get a new dvd burner.

I can almost guarantee you that you're using bad/low-quality media.

There is a later version of your firmware - 1.21.

Get it here (http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/support_software.jsp?category=support/software#fdvdwriter).

You can also try burning at a slower speed. I had some iffy media that would produce this error at 4x, but burn fine at 2x.

the obvious answer to you both is that you may need to change/update your firmware. itsagoodlad to newer and Skrill to older. :)
