hello

ive got a music dvd, which is quite long, and only has a few minutes worth of live footage that i really want. how do i get those few minutes onto my pc? and should it be saved as a wmv file or something? id like to send this clip to a friend by email.

what programme should i use and how do you do it?

cheers

Rip the VOBs from the DVD onto the hard disk. Then use Chopper XP (http://www.digital-miner.com/software/chopperxp.zip) to cut the portion you want. If the size of the cut VOB is still too big for email, you can either convert it to MPEG-4 which will be considerably smaller in size while losing very little visual/aural quality or you can use a service like www.yousendit.com which will allow you to email sizes upto 1 GB.

Or simply open DVD Decrypter, press "I" to switch to IFO mode, then select your chapter/cell and decrypt it to your selected location...

I used AIMOne Video Converter until it quit responding one day - now I use AVS video Converter. Either program can convert .vob or MPEG-2 directly to .wmv or RealMedia.
