This happens in both Once Upon a Time In Mexico and 13 Going on 30 - both Sony Pictures movies. I rip the dvd to the hard drive and PowerDVD plays it just fine. I then use Nero Recode 2 and recode the entire DVD, minus the foreign tracks and subtitles. It now loops on the section that tells the viewers that the comments do not express the views of the company, etc. Just as it's supposed to switch to the French version of the same thing, it loops the English version again and again. The movie never starts.
PGCEdit tells me the following post command (13 Going on 30):
[61 00 00 02 00 82 00 00] 1 Set gprm(2) =(mov) sprm(2:Sub-picture stream number)
[79 00 00 02 00 3F 00 00] 2 Set gprm(2) &=(and) 63
[00 A1 00 02 00 00 00 08] 3 if ( gprm(2) == 1 ) then { Goto line 8 }
[73 00 00 02 00 01 00 00] 4 Set gprm(2) +=(add) 1
[7A 00 00 02 00 40 00 00] 5 Set gprm(2) |=(or) 64
[00 01 00 00 00 00 00 07] 6 Goto line 7
[30 03 00 00 00 01 00 00] 7 (JumpVTS_TT) Jump to TTN 1 in this VTS
[30 08 00 00 01 83 00 00] 8 (CallSS) Call the VTSM Root menu of the current VTS, resume cell 1
By line 3, gprm(2) is always equal to 0, probably because I got rid of foreign subtitles. I would have thought Recode was "smart" enough to handle this.
Is there something I'm missing? I did a search in a few places and couldn't find an answer. My solution is to change line 3 to say "gprm(2) == 0" and things work perfectly.
Thanks. I just got my burner last week. Thank God for PGCEdit!
