View Full Version : Incredibles R1 need to be done by vobid?

I am having all kinds of problems with the Incredibles R1 movie. When I load it into DIF, it says that because of the angles, I need to process the movie by vobid, so DIF checks demux by vobid automatically. So I tried it, used Scenaid -> BatchCCEWS and then to Scenarist. I received an error about the video timecode not matching or something like that. So then I tried to use ifoedit to strip the angles, leaving only Angle 1. Tried it again and Scenarist gave me another error about the video frames not being a full number or something.

To those of you who backed this up, how did you do it? Also, if you have any idea as to what the problem is above, please help. Thanks.

i did vobid->scenaid->batchencode->scenarist for the main movie.. no problems there.. some of the extras are pan and scan so those will generate errors i just changed the aspect of the no-cce files to 16~9(to match the script) with dvd patcher and all was well.

Trahald, that rings a bell with the extras being a problem. If I just choose to not process them and just have DIF demux them, would I need to do anything else with the main movie video as to avoid errors in Scenarist?

yep.. that would fix it.. i use batchencode to avoid .5 duration errors in vobid demux.. however if you are pal then it isnt a concern

Trahald, is batchencode the same as using batchccews? Normally I use Scenaid and then it opens up Batchccews and imports everything it needs into batchccews.

batchencodem2v is a newer/simpler version of batchccews with some newer more advanced features (behind the scenes) such as the auto correction for .5 frame errors in a vobid demux / PanScan support

works very much the same way.. check out the sticky in this forum for more info

D3S7, does this new batchencode work with Scenaid? In other words, will Scenaid launch batchencode and import everything into it just like Scenaid does with BatchCCEWS? Also, does Batchencode give the same great quality (and use the RoBa method) that batchccews does?

I tried to run Batchencodem2v but when I try to run it, I get an error saying that it could not initialize. Do I need .Net installed or anything?

If you haven't done so you need to set the correct paths to both CCE and CCERoba in the options menu

hoops10
22nd April 2005, 14:02
That is the problem. When I try to run the program, it won't even load. I just get the error right away about it not being able to inititalize. Is there somewhere else where I need to set the options before I run the program?

post what the log file says (it's in the install dir and called bem2v.log)

for you info.... Incred does have to be done by vobid... it has angles
your angle error is because you probably didn't go into batchccews and check the "angle" checkbox for all angle assets (yet another reason to use batchencodem2v)

D3S7, there is no log file. The program never starts. This is the error I get:
'The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click OK to terminate the application.'

All that is in the install directory is Batchencodem2v.exe, CCERoba.exe, revpulldown.exe, unins000.dat, and unins000.exe. That is it. Do I need .NET installed or something? I am running winxp sp2.

Ok, I installed .Net and it seems to be at least loading the program now. I went into options and set the correct paths for CCE Path name, but it says that it can't open ECL file. Any ideas? Because BatchCCEWS works fine. And I would really like to try BatchencodeM2V. Thanks.

This is from the log file. After the first error complaining about not being able to open the ECL file, I aborted it myself:

you have to point batchencode to eclcce.exe for the version of cce you are using, not directly to the cce executable. eclcce may be in your batchccews directory

Trahald, you were right. Everything works great now. I did notice something with this movie in particular, specifically with Scenaid. I had to enable 'Add Silence to PGC Demux' and 'Add Silence to VOBID Demux' in order for Scenarist to compile it correctly. Anyone else see this? Or did I do something different?

BTW, thanks for all the help.

I tried both of those options in ScenAid and I still get this error message when trying to complile in Scenarist:

Info Multiplexing
Info Multiplexing VOB Main Stream
Info Multiplexing VOB Angle Stream 1
Error Video or Audio Buffer underflow: (Dts: 4191962, SCR 4192120)
Error dvd_mux : DoMux Multiplexing Error

Error Total bitrate is too HIGH. Please reduce the stream bitrate or the number of stream.
Error Multiplex is failed.
Info Multiplexing failed, Track<VTS01_20_Track>

At first I thought it was the video because the encoded video file was larger than the original! But after reducing the size of the encoded file I still get this error...probably something to do with the audio?

no.. sounds like you used the dif bitrate calcs which don't properly take into consideration angles when calculating max bitrate...

I'll shoot you a new build of scenaid that has better bitrate calcs and proper maxbitrate settings..

your angle assets will have to be re-encoded as well

hoops10
26th April 2005, 00:54
That sounds weird. I didn't run into that problem when I backed up the Incredibles. I wonder why Angelus had that problem and I didn't.

@Angelus: Are you working on the R1 version? Also, are you trying to keep all the angles or just processing Angle 1?

Angelus
26th April 2005, 01:18
hmm...I really dont care if i keep the extra angles or not. I would be happy just keeping the regular angles and taking out the extra ones. How would you go about removing the extra angles (or more specifically determining which ones to remove?)

D3s7
26th April 2005, 02:00
removing them might be more of a pain then re-encoding... the angles are all small and won't take long to re-encode

just set your maxbitrate to 7800-audio (currently is 9800-audio)

mine for example (3 angles and the english+2 direct tracks) was 7032

Add Silence on VOBID is almost always needed.... VOBID ultimatly needs/wants a seamless connection between cells.... for that to happen, the audio assets need to be as long or longer then the video (or w/in 6frames shorter) - that's what that option does.. it adds silence to the end of the file

even if not R1 but R2...
but i guess it's pretty similar: multi-angle, must be done by vobid.
when numenu is run by dif4u it all works great, apart from the fact that when cce is started (by loading all the scripts for the encoding) it returns with all errors of type "Avisynth: error 0x80004005" (which is file not found, according to threads found on this board).
Now the fact is that i could neither run the encoding of the menus...should i leave them as they are and just do the re-encoding?

Since this is my first multi-angle dvd...is it that they do multi-angle just to make things more complicate? Looks like there are no "alternative" angles, just some scenes are on one angle, some on the other.

How does numenu behave with multi-angle menus? :)

Thanks for the eventual replies...

You are correct: multiangle = vobid demux.. no way around it

The angles in Incredibles are... well I'm not sure on most of them. I know the first one is language.... there was (in the R1 version)

angle 1 = english
angle 2 = french
angle 3 = spanish.

I'm assuming the rest of the angles are the same way alhtough they looked the same to me

I don't think I've ever seen a multiangle menu...... but I'd report the error you are having to zeul as there shouldn't be any problem encoding the menus.....

mmm, i'll try to remember how things are (rip is on pc at office, i'm at home now)...will be more precise tomorrow

numenu automatically identifies video_ts and vts_01 as including menues, first one is more or less 600mb the other one 430 (more or less). The .avs file related to the video_ts folder, i.e. the one i can find in the D_VIDEO_TS\FRAMESERVING or similar, can not be played in, say, windows media player. the file it refers to (actually, the .d2v is there but the .m2v the .d2v refers to) is missing
The whole set of .avs files which can be found in the D_VTS_01_0\FRAMESERVING can all be played successfully with media player.

i can not give you more information right now, as i was saying tomorrow when i go to work i will send you the ecl files

thanks for the great support you provide, guys!

ok, looks like numenu treats the first menu (the one in video_ts.vob) as dummy :scared:. that's an extract from the numenu.log file:

04/05/2005 18.17.43 VobId 5 Flagged as a Dummy

then, when it's a matter of processing the files, the following output is in the log:

04/05/2005 18.17.44 No audio to process

and, finally, that's why probably CCE gets angry of the encoding:

04/05/2005 18.17.44 Vobid not re-encoded - file does not exist

04/05/2005 18.17.44 Vobid not re-encoded - file does not exist

any clue :(? if i let numenu go on, though, looks like it can not process the demuxed files in the D_VTS_01_0\DEMUXED folder, even if the corresponding .avs files in the FRAMESERVING dir can be correctly be opened, and the CCE1.ecl file looks pretty ok (references to various files seem correct).

If needed, i can send the whole set of logs...

Can it be that the menu recognized by numenu in video_ts.vob is a dummy one? in the D_VIDEO_TS\DEMUXED the following files can be found:

001.VOB
002.VOB
003.VOB
004.VOB
005.VOB
Dummy-002.M2V
Dummy-003.M2V
Dummy-004.M2V
Dummy-005.M2V

as you may see, the only file which is judged to be video (001.m2v, check first quote) has disappeared!
of course, each m2v file is just black screen... :sly:

thanks a lot for the support!

well i would say that vobids 2-5 are all non - referenced, so have been labelled as dummies for removal (this is VERY common in the videots.vob file). id1 is a still, and is not being re-encoded. here is the issue - i think - the 001.m2v has been moved into the 'final' folder which is /NEW_M2V. But cce should never have been called. anyhow the final vob size is going to be about 20kb from 600MB, a success i would say. can i see the ecl

gemon
5th May 2005, 13:32
file cce1.ecl sent...this one is related to D_VTS_01_0 folder
so i guess the errors of 'file not found' type are not related to the VIDEO_TS content, but the VTS_01_0 content...

by opening it in CCE directly it gives the same problem during the initial (.mpv) phase though, but just on some .mpv files...how come?

Gemon

Zeul
5th May 2005, 14:01
ooh that could be one of those eroneus problems, due to to many files in the ecl. under encoder settings alter the quantity of assets per ecl. default is 50 - change to 25 for example to see what happens.

gemon
5th May 2005, 14:33
ok, i started from scratch and... problem solved! it was a matter of too many assets in the ecl file...

though i'd to say that the behavior is still not 100% correct...cce only does one pass, completely ignoring my setup (from dif4u but even in numenu4u options) to do multi-pass with 6 passes...how come?
then, i have 'my' usual (i think i've been subscribed to them!) problems of compiling errors in scenarist...these are the ones i get in the import window:

any clue for the 6 pass skipped in favor of 1 pass only? and for the scenarist problem? i know i might me asking too much... :)

the cce1.ecl and cce2.ecl is basicly the same as the one i just sent you...

thanks for the just problem solved!

UPDATE : i switched back to numenu4u v2.0.5 (was using 2.0.8) and cce correctly handles files with vbr 6 passes as i had setup...maybe something wrong in compiling the .ecl file? i saw that both constant bit rate = 2500 and avg bitrate = 2500 (vbr settings) are written in the .ecl file with 2.0.8... zeul u can check it yourself in the file i sent u...

actually, if I just can add another thing (another? you may say), still using numenu 2.0.5 scenarist returns an error.
the error in compilation is that m2v is not a supported file format, and that is clear because those errors are relative to .m2v files in the NEW_M2V folder which are 0 byte size.
is it possible that some .m2v are 0 byte? am i missing something?

been a while since there have been any scenarist errors - i wonder why now?
please use debug screen to send me all the files i need, which if it fails are:

if you can send now i can test now!

what version of cce?

i will try tomorrow to do it again, maybe i'm missing something...the cce i am using it is not the basic one, it's cce sp... but why with previous versions of numenu it does the passes i ask for?

tomorrow i will update you with further info and will send the needed files

did u find a workaround about dif4u free 1.4.0 sending command with both /cceo and /ccev ??

@ everybody

if i do it manually, i.e. from a command prompt and not from dif4u, how can i complete the whole process of numenu encode + rip -> scenaid -> assets encode -> scenarist rebuild and compile ??

pls remember i want to use the new scenaid builtin ccedata calculations :)

@gemon
Yes in the new build undergoing some checks, I have included a new setting to over ride the CCE setting from DIF4U (for 1.4.0 users).

With regard to a full effort:
Run NuMenu4u first, and select start DIF4U (under settings)
In DIF4U make sure encode menus is turned off, as is any post-processing (like start RA, batchcce etc)
When finished open Scenaid and select one click. Turn on asset encoding with BatchEncode (my pref), start automatically. This assumes no VTS stripping is wanted.
Choose preferrred Scenarist (if non-seamless angles then must be 3.0), import & compile option selected
Then browse to the DIF4U dir.
Everything is now automated.
Once encoding & scenarist completed open an IFO with batchifoupdate and update the ifos. I like the 'reverse' setting.
Make an iso image with imgtool, and burn :D

well,
unfortunately I still have to ask for help in this dvd. it has become a challenge! at least i am learning a lot in dvd backupping...

after everything worked ok thanks to the new builds of numenu, i'm finding the famous "wrong max bitrate for multiangle" problem when rebuilding...Scenarist gets angry when it's time to rebuild, because it hangs in giving the error that bitrate was too high; something like

...ERROR in making ILVU...Please reduce bitrate...
(see attached file for complete log)
Now, the steps i follow are the following:
dif4u demux
numenu menu encoding (dif4u settings overwritten)
scenaid 1.6 with dgindex, so scenaid-ccedata.txt
BatchEncodeM2V with ccefront encoding (vts__01_v017.16~9_1.mpv file fails with opv so i got to use multi-pass encoding)

when encoding is finished, scenaid starts scenarist which correctly imports; when building the dvd, that error (again, please see log).

Any clue?
If u see the attached file, you may notice that max bitrates are not that high...any workaround?

Another "problem" could be the fact that while starting the rebuild, scenarist tells me that "dvd-video size 3895.4 MB"...shouldnt it be far more?

Thanks all for the attention,
Gemon

influenza
6th June 2005, 21:04
Please refer to the threads on max bitrate and multi angles hat can be found here on the forum. If scenarist complains about your bitrate being too high you better lower it ;). And if you reencode the asses and restart scenarist be sure to remove the vif files.

gemon
8th June 2005, 17:06
well, I think everything derived from the fact that I chose OPV through CCEFront (using BatchEncodeM2V) instead of the usual multi-pass. I found out that the OPV method does not respect the chosen maximum bitrate nor is precise enough for file sizes...I dunno, but maybe I am not using the couple BatchEncodeM2V/CCEFront in the correct way.
switching back to the old, usual multi-pass Scenarist becomes way more happy :p and it is now rebuilding (crossing fingers).

Thanks again everybody for the incredible (that's not a word joke!) support, and for the availability in teaching and explaining the thousands of topics of dvd ripping, de/muxing, encoding and authoring.
