I'm working on dvd2svcd again now (as far as time allows). I've upgraded the software used by dvd2svcd and so far things are looking good. Currently I'm adding support for CCE 2.7x (a lot has happend in CCE since last I played with it). Also I'll try and fix some of the AVI errors that people have and there's a bug in the project file for Scenarist IIRC.
So just a little update...

Way to go. I have been using the program for awhile now this season converting about 140 TV episodes (AVI format 960x528 with DD 5.1) to Anamorphic W.S DVDs. DVDs easy setup works every time. Did have a hazzle with a lower resolution and the borders but compensated in AVISunth for it.
Good to hear that you are back and am looking really forward to the CCE 2.7 addition. A side note couldn't find on the home page a place for donations just in case the CCE 2.7 should have arrived.
:thanks:

Dvd2svcd is the first program I used to convert an avi to mpeg. I used cce 2.5 with it. IMO Dvd2svcd is one of the best all in one converters free or not free.

The new DGIndex/DGMPEGdec.dll now supports MPEG1 stream, it would be fantastic if DVD2SVCD could use this latest version. See http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=94184&page=5&pp=20

how about removing that "plugin is not for avisynth 2.5" message, or atleast make it optional? :D

Isn't it possible to insert a "pause" knob in the DVD2SVCD program. It could be very useful if for example one want to change something in the extracted wav-file or subtitle-file. But there could be more possibilities.
Good luck with the new version!! :)

hi
i'm using dvd2svcd 1.2.2b3
and at the start of the prog it gives me an erorr:
unable to write avisynth.int
i'm not newbi in the area, it won't even make a bug report
i tried to install again but nothing
just for yours concerns i fixed the problem
the problem was in the subtitle file
it had a blank line at the end so i deleted it so the end of the file will be "text"
and now i don't the problem any more
i did a test to see if that was the problem (i added a blank line to a file to see if i got the error, and i did)
so i fixed the problem

Three years ago started to use DVD2SVCD to backup my movies.
Often I could backup the whole movie on one cd with good quality.
After buying a DVD burner never thought I ever used the program.
DVD-RB and shrink did the good work.
But then Xvid came in and my standalone DVD didn't support it :( .
I have tried DvixtoDVD and winavi but the quality was poor.
Blocs and no support for 5.1 dolby.
Then I d/l the latest DVD2SVCD, to convert AVI2DVD
Breathtaking crystal clear and support for 5.1.
Ooooh, how I love this good old program.
Thanks 1000 times, and keep up the good work.
Can't wait for the new program.

Very cool to see you continuing with this great product.
One thought... In light of recent events with dvddecrypter and the S&D order, have you ever considered going open source for the greater good
Probably a very cheeky suggestion considering all your hard work and enormous grasp on the whole scene in your news section, but just a thought ;)

@dvd2svcd:
Great news ! It´s really a pleasure to hear that you continue your work on DVD2SVCD. Just a few comments & thoughts:
1) Open Source: I would agree with equilibrium. May be you should think about releasing your sources or (even better) make DVD2SVCD a SourceForge project. May be you´ll find some time to read my posting in the General Discussion forum (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=95588 ). I guess the "death" of DVDDecrypter should be a lesson for every deleloper in this area. IMO including the source within the installation package and distributing your tool in a de-centralized manor (BitTorrent, E-Mule, etc) makes it impossible for the "industry" to really kill your work. Just as a thought !
Additionally distributing the next release of DVD2SVCD via Torrent could be a more stable solution compared to all the kind people hosting it. At least nearly any link referenced as mirror on the dvd2svcd.org page was dead.
2) It would be great to see a DS2RoBa-encoding method directly integrated into DVD2SVCD (Tylo´s CCEFront ?).
3) The AVI-import module of "AVI2DVD" should be able to work with AVISynth input. This way you can feed your "edited" video into DVD2SVCD. My experiments with DVD2SVCD in this regard were some month ago but AFAIR the main problem was the extraction of the audio from AVISynth. You could use AVS2WAV for this. I used VirtualDub in my tool VCF2AVS for this purpose but result should be the same.
Edit on:
I´ve just replaced VirtualDub in my tool by AVS2WAV without a problem. Runs fine (at least in a short test). I guess AVS2WAV would be a good way for you to deal with AVI sources that are AVISynth-based. So instead of shelling BeSweet with the AVI as source for audio, the suggested approach would just require an interim wave file and another app call.
Edit off:
As usual: Just my two cents !
Best regards,

Fantastic news. DVD2SVCD is a truly great application, much used by myself over the past year or so.
I finally get the hang of conversion (there's a few short cuts and tweaks needed to convert a 23.976 fps AVI with AC3 audio to a PAL DVD with AC3 audio :-) and you're going to start adding things again! More to learn...;-)
Keep up the good work - much appreciated.
can u make it so avi movies with mp3 audio ends up dvd format with ac3 audio because it always ends up in mp2 audio and someone told me it doesn't support mp3 to ac3 conversion right now, and i have to go and author it every time and convert mp2 to ac3. thanx.

yes, mp3 to ac3 (2.0) would be awesome.

What would be the advantage of AC3 over MP2 when the source is "only" MP3 ? <- max. Dolby Suround

It is great news ! DVD2SVCD (DVD2DVD) has been my favorite tool for dvd authoring for some time - find I get much better quality. One suggestion is that maybe in the bitrate section you could add an option for multiple dvds so one can automatically convert dvd9 to 2 dvds if possible - a viewing screen for area of split as one is able in VobBlanker would be excellent.
Appreciate all the work you have done, wish I knew some of the language so I contribute.

Is it possible somehow incorporate audio delay for dvd conversion.
Lately I did few dvd encodings with audio desynch.
I remember how to do that when converting to SVCD but I could not find anything on how to do that for DVD encoding.
Thank you :thanks:

The advantage is mainly in conversion to DVD. I read somewhere (a few times) that MP2 is not supported to NTSC DVDs and some players will not play those files authored with MP2. I have had experiences where MP2 sound did not come through a DVD player and I was quite surprised at that time.
In any case, I think the implementation will only be a command line batch file that will allow ffmpeg program convert from mp2 to AC3.

There is a program called "Batch ffmpegGUI XP" that encodes audio to AC3 using the ffmpeg engine, thats what I use :)
