Hi.
I need to make a short movie for my editing examination at the University, but sadly my camera is a "Sony CCD-TRV78E PAL", wich basically is a video8. The camera has a S-Video out, tough.
I have a firewire card too. I know that there are converters such as the "Terratec Cameo Convert 800", but they are way too expansive for a University student just like me.
Keeping in mind that i don't want to pay more than 150$, what capture card do you feel will solve my problem better? I read in the guides that the format you chose to capture the video is crucial to the quality of the picture. According to the "Terratec Grabster AV 250" card specs, this card transfers video data from analogue to digital in RAW mode, "without compression". This mode allows you, via software, to capture, compress, and archive in whatever format you want (AVI-VCD-SVCD-DVD) with the max resolution of 720x576 pixels at 25fps for PAL video.
What does it really mean? In which format does the card capture the video in the end?
Last question about audio. I don't have any other recording device but my camera, does the "Terratec Grabster AV 250" capture the audio signal or do i have to acquire it in another way?
