Hi there,
First off, let me say that I run Windows XP Media Center, so I am bound to use WMP if I want anything to appear on the MCE interface...
I have a problem with my non-mp3 collection. I have WAV files containing either AC3 or DTS music and all the tagging I can do on these files (author, genre, etc...) is just gone whenever I rebuild my library (delete all, reinstall, move file to another dir/drive, etc...). And I do not plan on tagging my files everytime WMP decides to erases it from its library... :(
Of course, MP3 files have this information stored in their MP3 ID3 tags, so it is persistent.
So I guess I can see two solutions to that problem:
A. Is there a way to back-up this database? Are the path stored in there as well? I guess if I move a file from a dir to another one I am screwed anyways...
B. Does another container exists (such as WMA) where I could store my music and that would support tagging? That way I could just transcode all my stuff and be done with it...
Anything else?
Thanks
