audio compressor / AGC

Does anybody know an audio compressor or an AGC for audio in AviSynth?

best bet is directshowsource and using a directx filter...

there's currently no AGC stuff for avisynth (why would you want it unless you're watching/listening with a laptop on the train?).

failing that, you could decode your audio, bring it into a sound editor, and do it all from there.

Yes, I do it in an external audio editor now. But I have a few dozen of clips to do that. (They are selfmade Videoclips with an external mic w/o AGC).

How do I set/adjust DirectX (=Directshow?) Filter?

i haven't really tried it that way before, but there are loads of free directx plugins that have (amoung other things) dynamics compression.

best bet is to make a custom filter graph in GraphEdit and import that with DirectShowSource (it will take .grf files, but i've never got it working before... that's probably my fault though).

there's a suite of directx sound filters called "blueline" by Digilogue... a google for "free directx filters" should find it. they make VST plugs too.

in graphedit it'll be under "directshow filters"... have fun :)

if you're doing AGC on self-recorded stuff, i'd highly recommend sticking with an audio editing program though - you never know what you'll need to do, and this way offers loads of flexibility - my favourite trick is noise reduction through upper-band expansion. not something that's easily done in directx.

btw, just so you know: louder is not better :)

Thank you for your tips. I'll play around with graphedit and looking for filters. One audio compressor filter is already installed, but no description.
