Hi,

I have about 100 DVDs that were ripped from original dual layer discs into two single layer discs (I don't know what with - they are not mine).

I wish to combine these dual discs back into a single disc, but the menus have all been 'jigged' so that the 'new' dual discs operate as a pair.

For example, 4 episodes on the original DVD. Each new DVD has only two episodes. DVD#1 has new links to ep3 + ep4 pointing to a "insert disc 2" screen. Simiarly for DVD#2.

Is it possible to re-combine these back to a single disc (so they operate as the original disc did)?

I know it is possible to rip the video VOBs straight off, and re-author, but the menus are lost.

Any tips?

MM

its might be possible depending how they were split in the first place. If sub menu's were ripped out you are going to have a whole heap of troubles. If all that has been changed is the command links you might been able to correct them but then you going to have a whole load of problems combining the vobs back into the right order. Basically I think if you need to ask its beyond you just yet, might be a good project to learn a whole great deal about ifo structures but to be honest it sounds like far far more effort than it would be worth. Easiest to re rip from the original dvd. What you don't have them? tut tut :D

See here (http://ifoedit.wh.fr0zen.com/joinclip.html#joindbl). This will get things back to one. Then use PgcEdit's menu editing feature to redirect your menu links on disk 1.

However, I agree that's it's easiest to just start again from the originals.

This seems similar to what you are trying to do: http://www.dimadsoft.com/dvdremakepro/ht_merge1.php

Not sure if I should start a new thread or not, but...

I used DVDFab to split our DVDS to backup, not I need to replace an original (YEAH DUAL LAYER!!!), but is there and automagical way to undo the DVDFab split nightmare?
