I have never posted & am not to sure if this is the spot. Whta i am doing is ripping a movie & there are some sub in the movie but ripping with movies. I did a sample of the movie in the parts where i know there subs & there are no subs in the movie. I saved the log maybe someone could give me a hand. Very sorry I did read a few topic here but they are about full sub ripping & converting. Here are the 2 logs i did save.

I'm no expert, but it doesn't look like you selected any subtitles to rip. Are you sure you made the correct selections under the "Subtitle" Tab?

I guess I did not explain it well enough my mistake. Take a movie like Kill Bill. It is an english movie & in the movie there are some english subs in it. I was not looking to put subs on the whole movie. I though if the movies had some small sub's in it that dvd2svcd picks that up & you didn't have to do anything else. I have did some movies with little sub's in it & dvd2svcd has picked it up fine with out any problem.

I hope that helped you out. Sorry if I lead you a stray. If there is any other help it would be great.

Thanx for your post I do thank you.

You are interested in "forced subtitles"

I reckon if you give the search button a go using that phrase you will have enough reading on the subject to answer your questions.

The logfile with the most interesting info. is "DVD2SVCD_log.txt".

I hope all works out fine. I think I got it now. I do thanx you 2 for your input. Sorry I did not explain it a little better the first time for you.

I did see a lot of othere people with that same peoblem but not using the same program. I do think I got one search out of it that did help me. I did not notice the force tab in subs I give that a try & come back & post & tell you how it went.

THANX AGAIN

I tried it a few way people had said when i did a search on it & froce subs. It did not work. I did a sample & burned to disk & tried it out & still nothing. So I kept the log to see if someone mey see something wrong in it. It say it ripped them but it does not show up in the movie. The sample I did rip I know has sub's in it so i know thats not wrong.

I f someone that has done a lot of this could take a look at the log & that would be great i am sure it is just a small problem.

Thanx again for all the help people. Great forum : )

Okay, well from your log we can see there is three english sub. streams (I guess we're after the english ones?). I can also see from your log no subtitles were extracted.

The two ways forced subs are usually handled is either some subs in a stream containing all the subs for a film are flagged as forced, or there is a separate stream containing only the forced subs (like elves speaking in LOTR etc.)

You can usually tell pretty easy if there is a seperate stream for the forced subs., it doesn't have many subs in it.....you will see big gaps before DVD2SVCD can find the next one in the stream (when you click the "next subtitle" button in the sub. selection process). If you have one of these you need to select the stream but do not tick the "forced" box.

If you don't have a separate forced sub. stream you need to select the normal sub. stream for the language you are after, and tick the "forced" box.

Of course you might have 5 english sub streams, and which one to pick? Well, there was one clever person around this forum somewhere that did a test run first, selecting all the streams in the appropriate language, ticking the forced box for all of them and let DVD2SVCD get through the sub. extraction process, watch the log to see how many subs(if any) were extracted, and which stream........Then stop DVD2SVCD, and use the subtitle info. to restart the process and select the stream you need.
