Hello, often times when I encode an XviD, the playback gets all flickery when I play the final encode, and I have no idea why.
B-VOPS are set to 3 max
here is a sample:

any ideas, anyone?

Make sure your xvid files get decoded with xvid. Often some other dshow filters take over all mpeg4 playback without supporting the necessary features.

I'm using FFD-Show, could that be why?
by the way, I just read the topic "XviD-1.0.1-05062004 Bugfix Release", and I dont know but it seems maybe it could also be because I'm using AQ?

@Wolferous, I downloaded and checked your sample. I decoded it via ffdshow and there was definitely no 'flicker' for me. So I suggest an uninstall of your current ffdshow build and an install of the latest build (http://cutka.szm.sk/files/ffdshow-20050303-sse.exe).
P.S: AQ has nothing to do with any 'flickering effect'. So having that on/off is a not cause. Infact, no option in XviD will cause any 'flickering'.

Blind guess...
If you use VMR9 as renderer, disable ya GFX's antialiasing options !!!

@ Wolferous
If its really the VMR9 antialiasing bug, there are two solutions !!!
- Use MPC and try a different render mode... (http://img98.echo.cx/img98/9894/mpc0sv.png)
- Or disable ya GFX's antialiasing... (http://img99.echo.cx/img99/5624/unbenannt1et.png)
Bye
