Which is the best DVD+R to buy. I have heard that some players having trouble playing certain discs with different colors on the back. IS this true?

"Best" is subjective. Try and approach the situation in terms of what media will actually work with both your burner and standalone. Not all media will be accepted by your burner, and even after finding media that your burner will accept, your standalone will have to read it, too. Check out these links (along with the media that's been suggested by your manufacturer) for media that others have had success with for specific hardware models.
