Utility for Determining Un-Certified Divx File Encoding

Gday folks

Q1: Is there a utility that will identify if a DivX file contains QP or GMC or anyother non standard encoding techniques to the home theatre certification standard?

Using Gspot and AviCodec I dont have visbility for this.

Q2: If I have a Divx file I suspect is not playing back because I think it may have GMC for example, can I recode it under a standard Dr Divx profile to "fix" the issue?

1) The GMC in DivX is safe, since it is only 1-warp point. But get GSpot v2.52 beta 01 which does have the capability to indicate whether a file has QPEL/GMC.

2) Yes. Just choose one of the DXN profiles while encoding.

Thanks mate, I see GSpot has basic functionality.

I noticed it picked up I used adaptive biderctional encoding, but it doesnt say if its single or multiple adapative bidrectional encoding.

Same with QPel and GMC, just an indicator not the type used.

Mate do you know why Divx cancel the GMC option for certified profile use if it is safe? By default its cancelled with certification mode on and hence it cannot be ticked during encoding. Only by turning certification off can I enable this option.

Try once Mpeg4 Modifier (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?threadid=78050).

A very powerful tool and the 'video info' button wil make you happy although it requires to install Microsoft's 'Framework' stuff.
