People,
I'm interested in examples of animated highlights in DVD menus. This is to test how MenuShrink handles such complicated cases (and also out of curiosity, I'm developping a taste for weird or exotic menus!, that's bad, I need a life!).

Currenly, my only example is Spiderman 1, R1 or R2 (Not sure about R4). The highlights in the main menu move. Also in the chapter menu.

Note: I'm only interested in moving/animated highlights! In some menus, the buttons look animated, but it's the main background video that's animated, and the highlights are not changing over time (I have many examples of that).

Thanks for any pointers!

Just looked at Appleseed 2005 Region 1. It's an anime.

2COOL, do you really mean animated highlights? or simply animated menus. The question is whether the highlights change in time in the menu. One easy way to find out is to run MenuShrink on it, and see if it reports a large number of SPUs (subpicture units).
If it is, I would be interested to find out!

They look animated. the highlights, I mean. In fact, this is the first time I got this from PgcEdit.

I think you got some! Indeed, PGCEdit reports everytime it finds a status of 1, and everytime you get a new SPU, the status is 1 in the button info. I think if you run MS on that thing, you'll get a warning indicating animated highlights...

EDIT: BTW, can you see that the highlights are animated? What happens when a button is highlighted? The only other example I have is spiderman 1 where the highlights move every second or so. Nothing dramatic!

The spiderman menus are not particularly nice! I'm just wondering what the highlights do... (what the "animation" looks like).

I checked it out. Indeed the highlights are animated (you can see them move every second or so), and you do get a warning from MenuShrink:

and in then output DVD, the highlight animation is lost. Note that vobblanker would preserve the highlight animation if I'm not mistaken...

I forgot about the log. I was expecting a pop-up message. But, if per chance if you come up with another version, you may want to correct a typo in your logfile, "mi-cell". Should be "mid-cell".

oops, thanks! Correcting it this very minute!
