I am using DVD-RB 0.82-1 Free and QuEnc 0.59 Beta 4. I am aware that the free edition of RB does not support using custom matrices, but it used to be possible to specify a custom matrix in the QuEnc GUI that would actually be used if "Custom Matrix" was not checked under the QuEnc options in DVD-RB.
Now it seems that DVD-RB modifies the registry under "LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\QuEnc" and writes a value of "-1" to the "m_csCustomMatrixFile" key. After closing DVD-RB this key is not reset to its original value.
I have no idea which matrix is used by QuEnc when a "-1" is specified as a custom matrix. QuEnc does not give an error message and seems to encode normally.
I would really prefer if the free edition of DVD-RB went back to the old way of doing things, and that would be just giving out "-cmatrix" or "-nocmatrix" as a command line parameter.
Cheers
