I am re-doing a DVD that I have previously authored. I am using SmartRipper to extract the VOB files into elementary streams but I can't seem to get the AC3 file to work. Anyone here have any experience using SmartRipper? It pulls everything down but I can't get the audio to import into DVD Architect. If I grab the WHOLE thing the AC3 audio comes down (and imports into DVD Architect) with no problem but not if I grab certain chapters. Now I also used a program called DVD Audio Extractor and that did work...however the audio and video are a little out of sync. I have tried selecting the chapters I want (using SmartRipper) and creating new VOB files using direct stream copy and then trying to pull it that way but no go. When I try to burn a new DVD of the VOB files that were created by SmartRipper I get error messages in Nero that files are missing. Any suggestions?

THANKS!!!!!

Hi!

Be very careful on extracting subsets of the original audio assets. Doing a bare demuxing of some chapters may lead to loose some headers (as most probably it happens in your situation).

Get a look at:
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=87298&highlight=audio

At that time I suggested, as a shortcoming, to add a single frame of "silence" to the demuxed asset; maybe it is better to follow what another user (mrslacker) indicated: to use a proper application (Bespliced/Besplit) to fix the AC3 audio headers...

Cheers,

PGCDeMux is supposed to locate the audio header and begin demuxing from there. But in general demuxing by CellID or VobID is a bad idea for audio. Because of the way multiplexing works as much as half a second of audio from the previous cell can appear to be in the cell you are demuxing.

I've also had the problem where, after demuxing a cell with PGCDemux, the resulting AC3 wasn't accepted by Muxman. AC3Fix (http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=AC3Fix), along with the GUI, has always corrected the problem for me.
