Announcing a new platform for internet television and video. Anyone can broadcast full-screen video to thousands of people at virtually no cost, using BitTorrent technology. Viewers get intuitive, elegant software to subscribe to channels, watch video, and organize their video library. The project is non-profit, open source, and built on open standards. Today we're announcing the project and releasing our current sourcecode. The software is launching in June

It'll be a real pain for people who have to pay per Gb for their bandwidth - most of the UK is going that way for example.

Lots of people out there with their own DV camera and a copy of imovie etc..

this does look to be a good idea.

people are able to make their own movies like never before - cameras are decent (certainly better than a lot of the footage that ends up on commercial DVDs), and editing software/hardware is pretty cheap now.

all that remains is a good distribution method, and this is certainly a step in the right direction. cheaper bandwidth would be another big step.

one possible problem would be if hollywood comes in and simply steals all the ideas it finds here, offering no credit to the originators of the ideas. this could easily happen, as there's a lot of creativity out there, but none of it is in hollywood's script writers. what have you seen this year (or last) from hollywood that:

a) was original, not based off a book, an eastern movie or a sequel
b) didn't suck.

all i can think of is Napoleon Dynamite (there's a couple of others i haven't seen yet - i heart huckabees for example)

I;ve been working on a story that I;d like ot be animated and thsi would be a good way to do it to bad this story might take another 2-3 years for me to get around finish it <.<
this is like publiv tv on hte worldwide scale but I agree with mug
hollywood by essance is pure leacherisum at its peak and would mostly liky rape this poor place for all its ideas and content and turn them into b-grade at best commeric releases
