I don't know why this happens, I went to the decoder config and disabled AVS script decoding but the icon still appears, so I assume FFDShow is still decoding them. I normally wouldn't mind, but every time I use "Close Video File" VDubMod shutdowns. CCE doesn't like my scripts either now. What can I do? I use VDubMod 1.5.4.1 and FFDShow-20050201.

Did you select 'VFW Interface' while installing ffdshow?

Not unless it was on by default. By the way, there's no problem when I load a vob, for now it seems to only happen when loading ASFs with DirectShowSource.

'VFW Interface' is on by default. I suggest an install/uninstall.

Just means that ffdshow is being used to decode either the video or audio in your asf file. It has nothing to do with VfW which I wouldn't recommend disabling as it is usefull. If you go into the filter info it will tell you what it is decoding, then you can disable that in ffdshow and some other dshow filter should be used instead.

it's also possible you have "raw video processing" (or whatever it's called) enabled in ffdshow's config, so _anything_ that comes through directshow will invoke ffdshow. this is easily disabled in the "codecs" config of ffdshow IIRC.
either that, or what celtic said.

Also, FFDSHOW could be configured as your YV12 decoder, meaning most AVS's would invoke it too.
(I think at least)

raw is disabled, and I'm using the Helix codecs for YV12/I420. I'll check what does FFDShow says it's decoding and report back.
