I didn't know where to put that, so here it goes :o

I have a few XviD files I wanted to split in two distinct parts. Audio is AC3.

I used VDub to open the file, did select direct strem copy for both Audio and Video, selected the first part of my movie and saved as AVI.

The result is horrible: Video stutters, ac3 is way out of sync, etc...

What did I do wrong?

which vdub ver did you use?
does it support ac3?
did you put the begin marker at the very 1st frame?

Dunno the version, but it is way old, you can count on that :o . Which version should I use? Which one supports AC3?

try vdubmod (latest 1.5.10.1) and cut on a key-frame stricktly. select that w/clicking the yellow keys on the bar below the screen. it would do that.
if not, avimuxgui will do for sure, but it needs some trickin if u want to cut at a certain keyframe. if it's not an issue, don't bother w/vdubmod. avimuxgui is (much) more reliable on joining a/o cutting, imo.

My vdub is 1.4.10, so I guess it should have worked. I tried with vdubmod 1.5.10.1 with the same results... I'll try avimuxgui now...

oh! How many versions is there? vdub, vdubmod, vdubac3... Can't they fit them all in one thing?...

Anyways, AVIMuxGUI did it perfectly. Thanks for the help!

yep, the vdub story is interesting. just add nandub to the list.
looks like the original vdub is the only one that's currently being activly developed; luckily!

anyway i'm glad you finally made it.

For this type of business, what you want is Vdubmod 1.5.10.1
1.4.10 is hopelessly old, I can't see that it would ever be of use to you :)
Avimux is of course perfect, but a coder should always have some sort of vdub on their pc ;)

If you actually had read the thread, you would know that Vdubmod 1.5.10.1 did not work :D

That said, AviMux did the job pretty well, so I am not in need anymore. That was just for the record.
