Link2 ?

Yesterday, by traversing a magazine between 12h00 and 14H00, which spoke about Divx, I discovered a tool being called LINK2.
Apparently it would be a frameserver.

By curiosity, I would wish to know what it is really, its principal applications and which are its limits?

Yes, it's a frameserver. Limitations: it has some severe encoding limitations. I forgot them, but I'm sure you can find them in this thread

A short summary:


That "shoud" be great, however...

1) EVE forgot to say that LINK2 is a shareware which will not work after 30 days,
2) while the user not pay for the registration code it will only work at 5 fps (for files longer than 30 seconds),
3) the path+filename of the source in the avs file cannot have more than 28 characters

Any, that the thread contains a lot of flaming says enough about link2 and the author :)

There's a free program that has similiar functionality to Link2 called MakeAVIS, developed with the ffvfw codec.
