View Full Version : Multiple VOB into 1 SVCD

This DVD has two episodes on it, how do I get the conversion tab two select them both and turn them into 1 SVCD? They are under 26 minutes in length each.
It makes no difference if I read the IFO from the DVD or rip the VOB to HDD first, then select the IFO from the HDD -- I can only select one 25 minute episode at a time.
With the VOB/IFO files on the harddisk, I have tried the sequential numbering trick, so I can select both VOBs by pressing ... -- however, the length is still the same, and only the first IFO is shown.
I want it to understand that I want both the IFOs and VOBs as the source, but the program is too thick. How do I make it understand?
Thanks for your time!
Marco

Way to go with trying to get help!
You download the software for free, come to a forum moderated by (among others) the program's author and use phraseology like this.
What you are trying to do is not specifically what the program is designed for. There are workarounds and a search on the word "episodes" will almost certainly find them.
A rough and ready guide goes a bit like this:
Set your bitrate tab so that anything from 0 to 30 mins goes onto disc size of 400. Select "No images" in the Image tab. Do two separate encodes to different target folders which will each produce a bbMPEG_muxed_file as an end result.
Author these to SVCD with VCDEasy, Nero or similar.

Sorry if I upset You. I didn't think "thick" was that pejorative a term. I suppose if I had written DVD2SVCD I would be a bit cut too if people complained about it.
Thanks for your reply. From reading the sticky post in the forum I was under the impression you could combine multiple VOBs into one project with the numbering trick. So DVD2SVCD is designed to take feature length movies as input, not short films. Hmmm... fair enough.

marco75, you could also use the numbering trick on the .vob's you wish to encode to SVCD, but use Ifoedit to write new .ifo's for them (it has a button for this), then use the new .ifo in DVD2SVCD to create your 2 episode SVCD.
This will only work if all the .vob's have identical streams though, the bonus is you get all the original DVD's chapters.

@marco75
Just to clarify a couple of points - I didn't write the software! As I said, this forum is moderated by (among others) the author. I'm one of the others - just Joe Average who came here looking for help, stayed round to answer some posts I thought I could help with and one day ended up on the team.
To be honest, DVD2SVCD himself doesn't post often these days and may not even read this thread so chances are you've upset no-one. But the forums here are used by the developers of a variety of free tools to gain feedback and aid development. It is the fact that developers come here that makes this place what it is and so regular users are quick to defend against anything that could be construed as an insult to them.
As a result, a post worded "I downloaded this software and I'm loving it...but I got a problem" is likely to get help, whereas one along the lines of "I got this software and it sucks because..." will get you nothing more than a flamewar!
There are worse terms to use than "thick" - I appreciate that. I just wanted to point you in the right direction to gain a good experience of these forums. This place is a goldmine of knowledge and by keeping things polite and professional we hope to keep it that way. Approach this site with the right attitude and it offers rewarding environment for learning.
Cheers
Nick
