I'm not sure if this belongs in this forum. I don't think it's been discussed yet.

During a specific time in the movie, I want the movie to go to a "hidden" video on the DVD when the user presses Enter on the remote.

A similar effect has been used for the Dodgeball DVD. "Every time Ben Stiller snaps his fingers during the movie, press enter on your remote and you will get either an outtake or additional scene."

What can I use to give me this effect and how would I go about doing it? Thanks.

This has been reffered to as 'buttons over video'. A very easy thing to do in Scenarist. Just specify a highlight at key points in a video, and have the action take you to another title on the dvd. This can probably be done in most authoring apps.

Which authoring tools would be the best for me? I'm pretty new to all this. If Scenarist, I'm not exactly even sure how to get it started to do all that.

any authoring app that supports button over video will suffice, the best of the bunch is DVDMaestro, Scenarist and DVD Studio Pro

In this case just use a 100% transparant button if I understand you correctly (since it's not something that's visible).
