Fighting undersize

Im trying to encode a dvd. Has 123 min and encoding with audio ac3 (384 kbps).

First time i tryed it resulted in 989 mb and qf .144, bitrate 726 kbps.

I tryed to reduce max consective b-vops from 2 to 1 and b-vop sensitivity from 2 to -20.

Resulted in 1,08 gb file with qf .171 bitrate 859..

Anyone know what i can do to increase file size? :confused:

And some quick solutions: higher resolution; a high-quality matrix; sharpening.

Bah! I can't for the life of me figure out why someone would complain about going UNDERSIZE! I mean, don't you set your maximum file size in 2 pass mode and then wait for it to come out equal to or less than? The quality is already at maximum.

NO. It just means that the encode can be improved even more (higher resolution/higher audio bitrate/dual audio etc), for the same target size which you were trying to get in the first place.:rolleyes:

it's just that when you do not know how it works, you simply think that the undersize is an error... while it's obviously not...
When you don't know that this source (with these attributes - resolution, detail level...) is already at max quality you're just a bit lost...
