I cant find any codec info tool supporting MKV files. What is worse is that virtualdub says a unkown codec is missing and it can't open the video stream.

MKV is just the container. What is the actual codec you used for encoding?

Would mkvinfo (http://www.bunkus.org/videotools/mkvtoolnix/doc/mkvinfo.html) help you?

You need matroskadiag.exe. It will check your MKV file and report what codecs are missing ...

That's the one.Wasn't too awake again yesterday ;)

You can't open RV10 in virtualdub or mod. What are you trying to do?

Hmmm... Got lots of "failed to connect to..." in the rendering process.

They aer all related to DirecVobSub and AVI Decompressor, MPEG splitter, blablabla.

You could render the file in graphedit and post the screenshot here

If you encoded the stream you would know that VirtualDub doesnt support matroska files (though VirtualDubMod does). Also for what do you need a codec info tool if you know beforehand that you used RV10 and ogg? Sorry but you kinda lost me there

This also doesnt make much sense to me :|
Sorry but the only thing I can think of is that you check the Matroska FAQ (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=54306) and ask a moderator to move this to the Container Forum.

matroskadiag.exe tells you where to get the missing filters. Did you try it ?
