Hello,
I have a Graetz AV-290 dvd player and I need to find a competible DVD±RW. So far I have tried the following DVD±RWs:
Memorex. My DVD wasn't able to read any of them.
I am using Nec DVD burner ND-3520A.
1. Does anyone of you know of any compatible either DVD+RW or DVD-RW to this DVD?
2. I have burnt my vidoes using NeroVisionExpress ver.3.0.1.4. is there any relevance to that, i.e. had I have used a different authoring program, my DVD would have been able to read the RWs?
3. I have used Winxp build-in drivers for my burner, is there a point updating the drivers?
Thanks

Hi,
sorry, I don't have any media recommendations for you. Over at vcdhelp, the only Graetz player listed (AV-330) is said to handle "few" dvd-r(w)s, but that may be simply due to the low number of reports.
What is the player's reaction to your blank media? "No disc" would suggest problems recognizing the medium, other error messages might hint at a badly authored disc. Does your disc play in other standalones? I haven't experienced used the particular Nero Software you mentioned, other affordable choices would be e.g. the TMPG DVD Author (time-limited demo available).
I'd try to buy different recordables, perhaps rw works better than a -r blank, but that's all just guessing. Once you find a working combination, identify the disc's manufacturer using e.g. dvdinfopro or one another similar util - "Memorex" brand discs are manufactured by different producers and if your player is picky with discs, it would be important to get precisely the compatible ones, not those with an identical brand name.

By many sources and my experiences Primedisc has best DVD RW medias.
And they are cheapest too, at least in my place.
I never had problems with 4 of them, while I throw 1 Verbatim and 1 Memorex RW DVD.

I use Philips DVD+RW 120Min Video 'Extended 240 min' 4.7GB Data, DVD Rewritable Single Sider 4x.
I have a Dual Layer DVD-Rewriter and use Cyberlink Powerproducer 2 Gold and / or Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator 6.
Note: Make sure you burn .mpg / .mpeg files if you are burning a DVD and not SVCD. If they are .avi files just use a program to convert it from avi to mepg2 format.
I usually download the quicktime trailers (.mov), export them through quicktime to (.avi) full settings and then convert again from avi to (.mpg) using PVR Plus. etc.

Hey,
My player shows 'No disc' with those 3 discs i have checked, however it takes him a rather long time to reach that annoying decision. The player does recognize a CD-RW when i convert an AVI/MPEG file into SVCD (using the same burner).
Would Flashing my burner help for using the Booktype option on DVD+RW? (sorry if this question is a complete nonsense)
