Jumpy film when

High I figured out my problem but i have a new problem to fix and it has to do whit this so I decided to leave it here and just edit my post. This is my problem.

i need the video to be at 19.181 to get a correct file time and then audio time and excetra but with that frame rate i get jumpy film
so i will try to speed it up to 23.976 like a dvd but with that my film goes to a time of 18:41 witch is too short for my audio so i speed up my audio but that makes the audio really high pitched witch you would probly know. I am not haveing good luck with this so I am going to ask the people at doom9. :)

20fps? eek. that's definitely going to look jumpy...

you could do 3:3 pulldown on it (does DGpulldown handle that?), but that's not going to solve jerkiness.

the slow and artefact-prone (but possibly amazing) way is using MVconvertfps. this comes with an earlier version of MVtools - it was pulled in later versions pending a bit of a rewrite... it promises to be extremely cool when it's done, but manao's not got much time at the moment from what i understand.

you can search the forum for the best way to use mvconvertfps, because i haven't used it in ages and can't quite remember how it all goes :)

Does MVconvertfps do the same thing as AVIframerate I think is the program that I use. I will use that program and speed up the film but it adjust the time to 18:41 and that does not solve anything but the jerkyness of the film but that makes 10 other problems.

And why do you need this? Makes no sense to me. What did you do? Use ForceFILM in DVD2AVI (DGIndex), then followed by IVTC? Use one or the other, but not both. But there's not a whole lot of information in that first post of yours, so I could be guessing wrong.

Lets Assume the movie is 1000 sec long.
the VOB itself report 29976 frames
after "Force Film" we get 23976 frames
next after "IVTC" we'll get 19181 frames (4/5 * 23976)...which is the correct fps for his audio track,he say.

And the word "jumpy" - any normal video stream is not jumpy at 19 fps -it's just slightly slower...
so I guess that tigerstyle means that there are missing frames...

No what it looks like is that it is just stoping and then starting agian but going faster from when it stops to when it stops agian but this only happens when the anime is panning. I did use Forced film I know of but I can't remember if I used IVTC or not but were would I check. If it is in the script itself or is it in the .d2v project? Ohh and last question why is this in avisynth developement because I thought there was a script or a filter that would fix it but if not then plz move it to the right section. thanks :)

Well it is just about every panning sence that I am having the problem with I mean it is not all that bad but it is enough to easyly notice that something it wrong.

Ohh and how do I do that. Sorry I am very new at this encoding thing been doing for about 1 month or so and I have read lots of guides but I am a slow learner and those are hard to understand sometimes but if you give me a guide or just tell me how to do it that would be great thanks. :P

Use FTP to put it on my server (see my sig) and then inform us here that it is there and what the file name is. I regret I haven't time to give you a lesson in FTP.

What is *.mkv? We want an unprocessed source VOB fragment!

An .mkv is a file that has 2 audio streams and subtitles in the same file and I can upload a VOB after I get home from schoo. Sorry I thought that you meant that you wanted to see the file that I was seeing after the encode.

here is a short guide how to check your video file :

1.Open the VOB with VirtualDubMod
2.point the position slider to the begining of the problematic scene
3.push the "Right Arow Key" and start watching for motion smoothness.
4.repeat this until you are sure that video is smooth or not.if it smooth go to 5,if not go to 6
5.open the avs file and check the same scene the same way.if it smooth go to 8,if not go to 7
6.extract that scene and upload a small ( ~ 40frames) part of the VOB file (look at this tread,post N#14 from Wilbert for "how to" extract )
7.post here the avs script
8.encode that scene only and watch with your favorite player...then report here ALL steps you did :)

this would be the platinum/renewal edition of eva, wouldn't it? definitely don't want force-film for that: it's a hard-telecine (ie, the encoder is fed with 60i and there's no auto IVTC enabled), and forcing film will give you strangenesses.

also, IIRC the intro sequence has a black orphaned field in it. telecide/decimate will bork at this, but i think TFM handled it alright (i am also lacking a fair bit of sleep). there's also a fair bit of macroblocking in the intro sequence (alas).

spoiler: everybody dies except shinji and asuka (i somehow never managed to see all of this series).

Yeah it is the Platinum edition and I did force film it so I will go back and change that to none and hope that will help it alot as for the quality I got a lot of it done but I still can't get it as good as I want but I think it is good for my fist time. :)
