DVD Authoring? Skip to menu and set default subtitles, audio [solved]

Hello,

I have ripped down a DVD directly to an ISO file don't know if it matters but it is an episode DVD so it's 5different episodes on it, It's alot of advertisements etc in the beginning so I want to..

1. When inserting DVD, skip everything, advertisements, the fbi copyright stuff etc and start directly at the menu.

2. There exists different languages and subs on the dvd, I want to make it select Japanese with English subtitles as default without having to change anything..
EDIT : also some menu options are removed, subs audio would be cool if selecting a removed option it selects the default one instead

3. I have removed most useles languages and some subs but they are still selectable when pressing the sub or audio button on the remote, I want those selections removed.

Would this be possible the experience I have with DVD ripping so far is dvdshrink nothing else so I would appreciate any help given

Hi-

1. If you want to actually remove them from the DVD, then you use VobBlanker. But your question seems to ask how to bypass them, and here's the answer:

2. This guide is for something very slightly different, but you can adapt it for setting the default audio and subs.

3. That one is a bit trickier, and I sometimes have problems. But in PGCEdit, double-click on the main movie (or in your case, on each episode in turn), and in the top middle of the screen that opens up you'll see the audio and sub streams listed. Disable the ones you don't want. Then go back to the main screen, and Save it. Then double-click the main movie again, and then in the lower left corner, "Current domain stream attributes". If you're lucky, when that opens, it'll give you a message about having so many streams, but using only so many streams, and do you want it fixed. Doesn't always show up, though.

But just disabling the ones you don't want helps a lot. Make sure you also disable the menu buttons with MenuEdit for the stuff you delete.

Thanks, didnt figure out the part displaying the subs I want yet but I got rid of the fbi stuff in the beginning, fixed the menu and got rid of f all audios/subtitles not present on the dvd from the list, except 1audio stream and 1sub stream they didnt want do dissapear

That guide for displaying the subs you want is very detailed, but also confusing. After you do it a couple of times, you'll be able to do it in about 10 seconds. Right-click on the last line in the Pre-commands of the main movie, and hit "Add After". You'll see a new line with NOP in it. Double-click it, and in the upper left corner of the new screen (Alphabetically), hit Set STN. Then Subpicture->Set To->On, and set it to the proper stream. Then OK it, and the NOP will have changed to Set the Substream to the one you want. You also have to check that there are no Breaks before that last line, and if so, make sure they point to that new last line. Follow the guide for that. Don't count on the software players to follow it. The ones I have usually display what they were set to last, but it should work in your standalone.

So because it is an episode disc I have to do that for every episode right?

And I have some worries that it will disable some things, like it won't be possible to change subs in the menu interface after that.. I still want the option to have the other audio/subs just that I don't want the default ones to be set by default :)

Yes.

It only sets the default audio/subs. You'll still be able to change easily. You'd have to set it as a PUO (Prohibited User Operation) to prevent switching. I do this all the time. Don't worry.
