View Full Version : DVD2SVCD and "see through" subtitles

Hi,

I've had this problem on a few dvd's (NTSC, R1) I've tried to encode to SVCD.

What happens is when I encode, one set of subtitles comes out fine (ie, normal speech) and other ones come out which dont have any body (ie, thought/direct translation) - so they appear see through (all you see is the outline).

Has anyone ever seen this before? Or better yet, found a working way of fixing it? (without loading up mspaint and starting to colour in the subs!)

Thanks,

Hi,

did you try editing the palette settings in the "Subtitles and Colours" window which appears before you begin ripping?

Steve

NB: I haven't done this myself for multiple subs in a single conversion.

thanks for the reply.

yep I tried that, even with 'debug' colours ie a very bright colour for each option to see if I could work around it, but it never seemed to work.
Is there a way to use an alternative subripping program or something similar?

thanks,

if so, try creating only the mpg with D2S and applying the subtitles with guides such as this

Can you rip the subs to a text file with SubRip?
If so, you could try adding them as an external stream - an option given when you press to Go button in the conversion tab.
