View Full Version : Re-authoring a DVD of old cine film

I have just had a load of cine film put onto DVD (i.e. the copyright is mine!) and I would like to edit it before saving off to a new DVD. What's a good way of doing this, preferably without spending any money :D

In more detail, I would like to trim the video (in the time domain) and possibly re-order sections where the cine films were included in the wrong order. Having done that, I would like to add an audio soundtrack (8mm cine had no sound). I would like to save it back to DVD format, not rip to DivX, as I do not need to save space and I want the menuing functions of DVD.

I will also need to rebuild the menus, but I think that is covered elsewhere in these forums.

Many thanks,

Free stuff:
Cuttermaran, for simple cut's.
Tmpgenc basic for cuts and joins.
GuiForDVDAuthor, or DVDAuthorGUI.
You can add the audio during authoring.
You're going to have to rip the vobs to mpg/m2v/ac3 somehow.

Thanks. That's really helpful.

I have now downloaded all of it and will spend a little time getting used to it, but on initial examination I think it will do all I need.

BTW, I found PgcDemux which will demux the original VOBs (created using DVD Decrypter) into M2V and AC3 streams. Cuttermaran can then edit the M2V no problem.

Many thanks for the help.

Yeah, I'd forgotten to post about that bit.
I use ReJig to rip the vobs to elementary streams, but PgcDemux will work.
