Some kind of encoding across a network?
I've never heard of that.

Unless you're thinking of frameserving, but that's
still confined to one PC (I think)

Hmmm, that sounds like RB-Farm for DVD Rebuilder. Fun for dvd backups, but that's all.

Well, i do by hands,

60% of a movie with my AMD64 3200, and 40% with my xp 2600....saves me some time....

I don't know if vdub can do it, but it is very possible. I know sony vegas allows you to use any number of networked PCs to render your video, as long as each one has a copy on it. It's also a techniques often used for CG movies and CG sequences. But i don't think vdub could do that, but it's 100% possible with other software packages. It's an awesome feature too. :D It just splits the load. :D And im not lying.

Note, the method that movmasty said is definately worth considering. And I think that alot of people do alot more than jusit DVD backups with vdub and avisynth. I personally use it for pre-processing (well, I havn'y YET, but i will for my next films) pre-processing all my footage from 60i to 24p before editing. And spliting the load would really rock! :D
