Hi,
I apologise if this has been asked before but I cant seem to find anything by searching.
I use a setup running Winamp with the ASIO plugin, this setup outputs pure DTS CD wav/ape rips and an external amp decodes them. How can I split a DVDs DTS track by chapters into pure 48Khz DTS Wave files?

You can use chapter-xtractor (doom9 download page) to generate a besplit commandline, then take that commandline and modify it to include the "-addriff" section to the core section. This commandline should then be able to take you directly from large DTS > split DTS-WAV by chapters.

KPex - Thanks for pointing me in the right direction :)
I seem to have produced seperate DTS Wave files but they do not seem to be bit perfect. They play in Winamp as 48Khz wave but my amp cannot lock onto them and all I get is digital noise. The stream is full rate DTS 96/24.
Is this a bug with my Amp? Or A bug in the software? Or is what Im attempting to do impossible?

Good question. Unfortunately I'm no expert on DTS playback. I do know that DTS-WAVs tend to cause playback problems. You probably don't need to use DTS-WAV, you could probably play back raw DTS (using maybe the directshow plugin and ac3filter or ffdshow) over spdif.

I did that fine using the following software:
1. Rip DVD (any soft will do). Keep only the main movie (or the piece of movie containing the dts you want to extract)
2. Use vobedit to extract the dts stream
3. In VDubMod, load any avi file.
3a. Go to the "Streams List" dialog, add your dts file
3b. select the stream
3c. Click the "Save WAV" button
4. Load that thing in Media Player.
5. Enjoy the dts sound from your receiver :D
Note: You will need AC3Filter 1.01, which is unfortunately a release candidate only at this time.
Note2: I have not tested that with dts 96/24, but am in the process of downloading a file for that very purpose. I don't like Queen anyways ;)

Hi Pieroxy,
My method was very different, could you try the same method as I dont know whether it is my reciever or method thats broken.
I did the following:
1) Ripped out DTS stream using SmartRipper
2) Used Chapeter XTractor to get Chapter points
3) Used Besplit to divide up and add wave headers
4) Played back in Winamp using ASIO output plugin
My current setup can playback DTS-Wav 44Khz files (DTS CD Rips) fine.
Im not that fond of Queen either but its a very nice sounding mix :)

Well, I'm not going to try your method for different reasons, the main one being that I've never been able to use the -addriff switch with BeSplit. Every time I run BeSplit on a dts file, it just spits out 1/2 million error messages, and the results are just garbled.
The only way I've found to make a dts audible with anything is to mux it with an AVI or to use the method I've described above.
As for splitting it, I don't really have any idea. The only way I can think of would be to mux it with an AVI, split it with vdubmod and demux again...
As I told you, I don't know ;)

Well, Ive come back to this project again and still havent managed anything playable.
Pieroxy's method yields a file that about a tenth the size it should be and unplayable.
Is this a correct command line? (I get loads of errors):
besplit -core ( -input "Input.dts" -output "Output.wav" -type DTS -addriff )
Does anyone know how a .dts file can be turned into a .wav?

Aghhhhhhh,
Ive just followed all the instructions here:
http://www.app.demon.nl/DTSguide.htm
The same thing happens. I end up with an unusable wave file thats one tenth the size it should be.

Which method ?

I followed Method 1, it produces exactly the same unusable file as Pieroxy's method.
I should probably reclarify what I want to do. I want to create Wav files exactly like the ones ripped directly from a DTS CD (Except obviously they will be 48Khz) from a .dts DVD rip.

AFAIK the initial question was:How can I split a DVDs DTS track by chapters into pure 48Khz DTS Wave files?
Did ever test the stream processing function in smartripper with the cellsplitting option?
