View Full Version : (No) Stereo to Mono in BeSweet / HeadAC3e/...??

Hi everyone,
i hope someone can help me with this:

I regularly have to create Mono AC3 files with HeadAC3e. My source are large Stereo MP2 files.

Since HeadAC3e cannot convert from Stereo to Mono on the fly it seems that i have to create intermediate mono WAV files before opening them in HeadAC3e. (Otherwise HeadAC3e produces stereo AC3s)

BeSweet is also unable to convert from Stereo to Mono. Btw. How strange is that?? Should be easy to do IMHO...

So i'm looking for a quick and easy solution. What i *don't* want to do is having to create gigabytes of intermediate Stereo WAV files from the MP2 files, open them with a Soundeditor, convert to Mono and save them as WAV again.

Isn't there *really* no possibility to convert from Stereo to Mono in BeSweet? Is there a chance to force HeadAC3e to produce Mono AC3, even if the source is Stereo?

Thanks in advance and
greetings,
Malcolm

This is just sort of a band-aid approach, but you should be able to open the stereo mp2 with Foobar and save directly to mono wave.

i've found the solution myself:
HeadAC3e *CAN* convert from Stereo to Mono on the fly!
If you remove the checker from one channel of the output formats it does not simply discards this channel, but converts from Stereo to Mono.
Frankly the GUI of HeadAC3e is a bit strange.. (IMHO)
