Just wondering how DVD-RB interfaces with CCE now. Using Pro 0.81.
Ok, you can custom-define matrices for "Very Low Bitrate", "Low Bitrate" "Main Feature Matrix", "Matrix for Extras" etc.
I notice when I go into RB Opt, and click on CCE settings, that DVD-RB has been already setting these matrices appropriately based on the original avg. bitrate for the VobID. That is, if the rate is above 3Mbps, then it uses Standard, which is what I've selected for Main Feature Matrix. If it is below 3 Mbps, it uses "Custom."
Now this is what I'm wondering about. If I'm say at 2.5 Mbps, it doesn't explicitly use "Low Bitrate". It uses "Custom" -- but I'm wondering, maybe DVD-RB simply passes the actual Low Bitrate (CCE) matrix explicitly, rather than selecting it from CCE's built-in list? That would explain why anything except Standard shows up as "Custom."
Can anyone help me make sense of this?
Finally, obviously the limitations are that if you tweak stuff around in RBOpt, say by increasing Target Sectors, or lowering bitrate on extras manually, and more space becomes available to a certain title, then it'll get more bitrate, but won't re-evaluate the matrix, even if it crosses the 3Mbps threshold. So in these cases you need to set it manually, correct?
And I once got a vobid with bitrate 2997 Mbps, and it was still set to Standard. So when does RB actually do the switch-off to what it defines as its "Low Bitrate Matrix"?
