Hi guys
I just finished my DVD project which is NTSC drop frame.
In the build files, everything is ok and subtitles are completely sync.
then , I export an archive file as TAR file(which is in export project menu)

I bring that file to somewhere else to import to that computer.
But after making build from the imported project, I see that subtitles are out of sync.

I know why this problem happens. I just want to ask you that how can I solve it.
The problem is that scenarist do not recognize the tar file, that is drop-frame or none-drop-frame. It always import NTSC projects as a non-drop-frame project whether it is drop or non-drop
Please help me !!!!

I would be appriciate if u help me

if scenarist is importing via a script then whatever is written in the script overrides any settings. if the script says non-drop then scenarist will import those assets as non-drop. HOWEVER more likely is this:
When scenarist imports from a scp file, it will apply drop to the sub starttimes , sub durations and scene times in the track editor (if using 3.0). 2.7 is unaffected. SO, your subtimes will have been 'dropped' twice. This is why scenaid and numenu4u create 2 versions of the scp file depending on the scenarist version being used. it is a PITA.
Try using 2.7 instead.

it seems that you lack knowledge as much as you lack courtesy and respect.

this forum is NOT sonic's support page. if you have a query for which no user responds, then you have two options available to you.

1. contact the programs support services

2. search, read. learn, experiment and troubleshoot your way out of your dilemma.

responding in a demanding childish fashion to the only person who has taken the time to help you out, i can guarantee you, is NOT one of those options.

hrmmm .... anyways, considering that a .TAR file utilises a .scp for the import of the assets, i strongly suggest you re-read Zeul's answer again and again until it sinks in, then think about it some more ... and maybe then respond with another question if you have one.

do we have an understanding?

good

Ok.. that statement sure sounds somewhat rude to me...

Anyway.... common sense man.. open the .tar up and see what's in it... low and behold... a script (SCP) in which case, Zeul's posting is dead on

Also, try using search a little better.. there are numerous posts regarding problems w/ Scenarist 3.0 and dropframe.. (in fact try searching on that alone)

Perhaps you could also try contacting Sonic (the makers of Scenarist which I'm sure your aware of) and ask them on the problems

We are more then willing to help but demanding a guide will get you nothing back

Hi
Thanks again
This reply is for asking my excuse about my poor english.

I'm not so good in English, so mind by bad language which i wasn't aware of.

Anyways I am going to search more about my problem
I hope I can find something.

Thanks

I am pretty sure i have answered you problem already. The problem is that the scp (inside the tar file) is ALL in drop-frame timecode, but scenarist 3.0 is adding drop frames to the subtitle track details, forcing them out of synch. This will be proven if the subs go more and more out of synch. The only option to avoid this is use scenarist 2.7 , or you have to manually adjust the sub start times yourself.

Hope that helps.

So what if I edit the SCP file and change Drop-Frames with Non-drop frames ?
Does this solve my problem ?
Thanks

I have never set NTSC projects to non-drop. I suspect that scenarist will apply drop frame to each asset that it imports and the track also. I am unsure what the outcome will be. All i can say is try it. Change the scp with a text editor and save with a new name.
